Every great organization has a great story.
Rekerdres & Associates is no different, and assisting DFW businesses for 30 years has given us some rich experiences.
Humble Beginnings (1986 – 1990)
Craig Rekerdres started in insurance in high school, getting licensed and helping in his dad’s agency. Craig, after graduating Texas Tech University, received formal training at Lloyds of London.
After returning from London, Craig realized that there was a need for growing DFW businesses to receive proper risk-management, as well as improved market-access. This led him to start ‘Rekerdres & Associates’ in 1986.
One of R&A’s first clients was a brewery located in the heart of downtown Dallas. This became their first office. And when things got tense, they had easy access to stress-relieving amenities…
Growth and Expansion (1990 – 2002)
In the early 90’s, operations grew quickly. Clientele grew via referrals, and Craig needed to hire staff and move to a larger space.
R&A officed in Uptown / Turtle Creek, so as to easily reach the downtown-based clientele.
Niche Focus and the Next Generation (2002 – Present)
Sustaining long-term customer relationships, Rekerdres & Associates developed knowledge and expertise in their client’s industries.
Thus, leadership shifted the business model from ‘generalist’ agency to ‘niche’ agency.
This shift resulted in 1) improved access to specialty insurers, 2) lower rates, 3) better service, and 4) growth through referrals. The ‘niche’ model, to this day, yields excellent results for all parties.
In addition to the niche focus, R&A also started developing the next generation of leadership. David Rekerdres joined the firm in 2010 after completing his BBA from Texas A&M.
A blend of ‘old school’ and ‘new school’, David combines a service-oriented style with tech-innovation to improve the customer experience. He also emphasizes online resources that educate the business-owner on niche risk-exposures and coverages.
Under David and Craig’s leadership, Rekerdres & Associates is well-positioned to serve the commercial buyer for years to come.
